Definition
A vinyl calculator estimates sheet or roll vinyl needed for a room including trim waste.
Explanation
Sheet vinyl is often sold in fixed widths (2m, 3m, 4m). Seams and coving add waste. Heat-welded commercial installs need extra at joins.
Worked example
A 2.8m × 3.6m utility room may need a 3m-wide sheet cut to 3.8m length plus 10% waste for trimming.
Summary
Measure twice, add waste for seams and coving, then order the next width up.

Sheet vinyl: seams, coving, and ordering width
Choose the right sheet width
Sheet vinyl is sold in fixed widths — commonly 2m, 3m, and 4m. Pick the narrowest width that covers the room without a seam, or plan the seam along a natural line (e.g. under a kitchen island).
Always add length for trimming at walls and coving. A neat coved finish in a wet room uses extra material at the perimeter.
Commercial vs domestic fitting
Domestic kitchens often use loose-lay or fully adhered sheet with simple trims. Commercial hygiene areas need heat-welded seams and coved skirting — price labour separately from material.
